11 Advantages of the CASWELL FIRESAFE system
®
CASWELL FIRESAFE , unlike many other fire resisting ductwork products on the market, is a system which
does not require any special treatment, paint finishes or cladding to offer stability and integrity ratings of up
to 4 hours to BS 476:Pt 24 (1987) (ISO 6944: 1985).
‘Real world benefits’
®
• Removing the need for a potentially multi-process coating means that CASWELL FIRESAFE ductwork
is more economical and quicker to manufacture. This enables our manufacturing Partners to better meet
customer expectations; especially for any urgent ‘add-on’ orders
• As there are no additional chemicals used for etching / priming / coating / cladding the ductwork,
the CASWELL FIRESAFE ® system can be considered to be more environmentally benign
• Factory-produced consistency is assured in both aesthetic and performance terms
• Non-coated CASWELL FIRESAFE ® ductwork is not susceptible to the kind of surface damage or
degradation which could affect the performance of coated ductwork if not repaired.
This makes it particularly cost-effective over the lifetime of the building
®
• The overall galvanised steel finish of CASWELL FIRESAFE is accented with distinctive red detailing,
brand logo and fire labelling; all purposely designed to make it recognisable as a certified fire resisting
product. This provides visual assurance that the correct level of passive fire protection specified has
actually been installed.
• Aside from the above design features, CASWELL FIRESAFE ® ductwork will be a good match in overall
finish if / when connected to standard DW144 non-fire resisting ductwork. To blend with coated ductwork,
however, DW144 standard ductwork would need to be painted to match. This would clearly add cost and
time to any project
• Galvanised mild steel is easier to clean and maintain than coated or clad systems
• The clever simplicity of CASWELL FIRESAFE ® when specified as a system without dampers (compared
with systems that must rely on dampers) negates the additional and on-going costs of installing,
periodically testing, maintaining and potentially replacing failed dampers over time
