1 Introduction to CASWELL FIRESAFE and FFRDL

C.Caswell Engineering Services Limited - commonly known as Caswell - is an established HVAC company
that has been manufacturing and installing ventilation systems since 1969. Specialising in niche markets
and using our in-house design capabilities, we place great emphasis on meeting our customers' needs and
developing new products to satisfy the ever changing market.

As part of our on-going product development programme we recognised that large commercial, leisure and
retail developments had a growing requirement for fire resisting ductwork systems.

Following a period of market research, Caswell decided to embark on developing a range of fire rated
®
ductwork systems. Subsequent product design lead, in February 2003, to CASWELL FIRESAFE fire rated
ductwork being tested to BS 476: Part 24 (1987) (ISO 6944:1985) attaining a rating of up to 4 hours for
stability, integrity and insulation under this standard.

In collaboration with insulation market leader Rockwool Ltd, we were able to combine test data to support

a full range of CASWELL FIRESAFE fire resisting ductwork. This offering was officially launched in the UK
in August 2003.
In addition to two UK based Partners, we formed a global marketing strategy to actively seek International
Partners based in countries where British Standards are the recognised criteria for certification of fire
®
resisting products. To date, CASWELL FIRESAFE systems are now manufactured and installed under
licence in their respective territories in the UK, Eire, Middle East (UAE and Qatar) and Far East (Hong Kong,
Macau and Malaysia).

In 2008, a separate company was needed to dedicate resource to the ever increasing demand for

CASWELL FIRESAFE products. So, Firesafe Fire Rated Ductwork Ltd (FFRDL) was formed.

FFRDL joined existing Caswell Group companies, KONVEKTA and C.Caswell Engineering Services (which
is a member of BESA, ASFP and has staff on the BESA Ductwork Executive Committee), tasked with future

development of the CASWELL FIRESAFE range, Partner programme and handling all technical, quality
management and training aspects.
